Ulrich Brand teaches and conducts research at the University of Vienna, Austria. His research focuses on international politics and international political economy, the transformation of the state and its internationalization, imperial mode of living, social-ecological transformation, international environmental and resource politics, with particular emphasis on Latin America. From 2011 to 2013 he was member of the Expert Commission „Growth, Well-Being, Quality of Life“ of the German Parliament, in 2018 he was co-founder of “Diskurs. The Science Network“ in Austria which intend to make evidence-based research known in a broader public. He is member of the Permanent Working Group “Beyond Development” in Latin America.
